Description
The 1946 CJ‑2A is an early civilian "jeep" built by Willys-Overland of Toledo, Ohio, after World War II for non‑military use. It was built to serve farmers, tradesmen, and small businesses needing a compact, durable utility vehicle. Based on wartime "jeep" design, it retained a simple body, open cabin, and four‑wheel drive, and its versatility and rugged construction helped establish the Jeep name in the civilian market and set the foundation for future off‑road and utility vehicles.
This 1946 Willys-Overland CJ-2A was reportedly refurbished under previous ownership as a military tribute and features an olive dram paint job with U.S. Army-style lettering, olive fabric upholstery, and a color-matched removable canvas soft top. Power from the 134ci “Go Devil” flathead 4-cylinder engine is sent to the wheels through floor-shifted 3-speed manual transmission, 2-speed transfer case, and manual locking front hubs. The body-color 16” wheels wear Denman Military-lettered tires, and the floor-mounted push-button starter has been replaced with a key tumbler mounted to the left of the steering column.
Services completed since the sellers acquisition in 2020 include overhauling the front and rear suspension, servicing the brakes, accelerator linkage, steering column, and steering box, replacing the speedometer cable, and more. Service invoices can be viewed under the "Additional Documents" section.
This 1946 Willys-Overland CJ-2A is now offered with a removable roll bar and canvas top, body-mounted equipment, recent service records and receipts, and a clean Florida title in the seller’s name.
