Description

The 1941 Lincoln Zephyr marked the final evolution of one of the most innovative American cars of the prewar era. Originally introduced in 1936, the Zephyr was Lincoln’s bold response to the streamlined design movement, inspired by the Burlington Zephyr train and named after Zephyrus, the Greek god of the west wind. Designed by John Tjaarda and refined by Bob Gregorie under the direction of Edsel Ford, the Zephyr introduced aerodynamic styling, integrated fenders, and a low-slung silhouette that set it apart from its contemporaries.

By 1941, the Zephyr had matured into a refined luxury vehicle, offered in multiple body styles including sedans, coupes, convertibles, and the elegant Town Limousine. It was powered by a 292 cubic-inch V12 engine producing 120 horsepower, paired with a three-speed manual transmission. The car featured unit-body construction, a rarity at the time, which contributed to its structural rigidity and smooth ride.

This 1941 Lincoln Zephyr has been customized into a hot rod, complete with custom metal and trim, a 460 cubic-inch V8 engine swap, a modern three-speed automatic transmission, and the addition of air conditioning, cruise control, and power steering, brakes, and windows.
