Description

With the initial success of the VC series for 1940, the 1941 WC series was a further evolution of Dodge’s half-ton four-wheel drive trucks. With fewer civilian amenities, the grille was redesigned in a simple slat style that also served as a brush guard as well as new fenders that collected less mud that would hinder forward progress. The chassis and wheelbase were lengthened to improve overlanding capabilities. Dodge would build 30 different models of the WC with four-wheel drive and an additional eight two-wheel drive models ranging from closed cab pickups, command cars, radio cars, ambulances, telephone maintenance, or open cab pickups. An unlikely sight on the roads today, the WC-6 Command Car serves as a unique vehicle ideal suited and any military gathering or in any militaria collection.

The Military Collection

The five military trucks on offer today all come from a single collection that is focused on preserving military history. This selection of trucks served vital roles with the US Military in both theaters of World War II. Today they are offered in restored condition, eager to partake in a parade, reenactment, or any other gathering of military vehicles.

Highlights

  • Per the consignor, the WC-6 was restored in 1974 to award-winning level with all ‘NOS’ or original parts, clenching the coveted Best in Show Award at the first Military Vehicle Preservation Association convention in Denver, Colorado in 1978

  • The truck was repowered with a 251 cu-in Chrysler ‘Spitfire’ flat-head inline-six-cylinder engine in the late 1980s, now producing 115 horsepower instead of the original 85

  • An early half-ton variant of the WC series Comand Car offering a softer suspension with a more compliant ride as compared to the later three-quarter-ton models

  • Equipped with a four-speed manual transmission and a two-speed transfer case
