The Buick Super was the manufacturer’s most popular car, offering achievable full-size luxury for the masses. In 1941, Buick refreshed the bodywork with front fenders becoming closely integrated into the car’s overall design. Buick also created Estate Wagon, fastback in Century and 40 Speical trims and two-dour business coupes.
Convertibles became a massive success for Buick in 1941, becoming the second-most popular make behind Ford’s ragtop. For the first time, Buick’s power convertible top was standard equipment offered in both a four-door convertible sedan and two-door convertible coupe.
The “Fireball” engine, an overhead-valve straight-eight, featured high-compression pistons and Compound Carburetion. This gave the Fireball an impressive 125 horsepower output, a massive climb from the 107 horsepower in the previous year’s engine. Compound Carburetion consisted of two dual-barrel carburetors. Most of the time only one carburetor was in operation, but under hard acceleration or at high speeds, the second carburetor provided extra power.
This 1941 Buick Super Convertible, with the Fireball engine, shows 32,258 miles and is offered with an April 2012-issued Ohio title noting 31,945 "actual miles".
