Description

Introduced during a time of rapid innovation, the 1940 Ford lineup featured a sleek, modernized body with integrated headlights and a distinctive grille that set it apart from earlier models. The car was powered by Ford’s reliable flathead V8 engine, offering improved performance and smooth driving, and was offered in a wide variety of body styles across both Standard and Deluxe (De Luxe) trims.

The 1940 Deluxe Convertible Coupe came with a 221 cubic-inch flathead V8, which produced 85 horsepower from the factory. Known for its smooth performance and reliability, it was paired with a three-speed manual transmission, making the Deluxe Convertible a spirited and stylish cruiser. Although this example does not have a radio, it retains its original antenna, which was unique to convertible models: Mounted in the top center of the windshield, it could be extended or retracted with an interior knob.

The body and frame on this 1940 Deluxe were reportedly restored in 1993, and the car wears maroon paint with brown leather upholstery. This drop top, which the seller says has won numerous local show awards since its restoration, received an inspection, maintenance, and test drive from a certified mechanic in June 2025. It is now offered with a clean Michigan title in the seller's name.
