Description

The Chevrolet Series BA Confederate, manufactured in 1932 to replace the 1931 Series AE Independence, is an American vehicle that retained much from its predecessor with notable updates such as a sloping windshield and the removal of the external visor. Offered in fourteen different body styles supplied by Fisher Body, these styles were divided into "Standard" and "Deluxe" categories, with Deluxe models featuring chrome-finished hood vents. Production was handled by Flint Assembly, Buffalo Assembly, and Janesville Assembly, and the Chevrolet Export Boxing plant in Bloomfield, New Jersey, was repurposed for crating and shipping knock-down kits to overseas GM factories. The Series BA was powered by an upgraded 194 cu-in "Stovebolt" six-cylinder engine producing 60 horsepower, paired with a three-speed synchro-mesh transmission and a "Free Wheeling" mode called Wizard Control for coasting. Today, these scarcely seen models are beloved for their classic styling and a popular alternative to more prevalent Fords.
