The AACA Museum at Hershey is truly America’s transportation experience. The 71,000-square-foot museum in Hershey, Pennsylvania, opened on 26 June 2003 and since then has displayed vintage automobiles in a truly unique way. Visitors walk through eight decades in time while traveling from New York to San Francisco with iconic settings revealing vehicles from generations of American motoring. The AACA Museum at Hershey ranks among the top automotive museums in the world and has been recognized by the Smithsonian as an Affiliate Museum. Hagerty Marketplace is honored to offer this collection of exceptional and unusual vehicles from The AACA Museum at Hershey.

Henry Ford not only put America on wheels with his automobiles, his Model TT and later Model AA trucks were equally revolutionary, sporting pneumatic tires, superior creature comforts, and an affordable price. Others followed manufacturing trucks, including the REO Speedwagon, International Speed 6, and a variety of Chevrolets like this 1932 1-1/2 Ton Model NB. The 1930s were a time of incredible construction projects like the Hoover Dam, Golden Gate Bridge, and Empire State Building, and trucks like these made it possible.

Early dump trucks, though, were hampered by mechanical lift mechanisms, and dumping a load could be a half hour of exhausting manual cranking for the driver. Garfield Arthur "Gar" Wood may be best known as a builder and driver of racing speedboats, but his invention of the hydraulic lift for dump and garbage bodies earned him his fortune. Patent number 1165825 was awarded on December 28, 1915, and so the Wood Hydraulic Hoist and Body company could later advertise rhetorically, “Ninety percent of the truck makers in this country list Wood bodies as standard equipment—why?”

This 1932 Chevrolet 1-1/2 Ton NB Dump Truck by Wood Hydraulic offered by The AACA Museum at Hershey is one of those historic workhorses that helped build America.
