Description

OFFERED WITHOUT RESERVE

Blending classic styling with contemporary engineering, hot rodders have been reshaping both the automotive scene and its language for generations. One such term is “highboy,” which describes a hot rod built with its body sitting atop the frame instead of being channeled down over it. This construction results in a noticeably taller stance, giving rise to the name.

The expression emerged within the hot rod culture of the 1940s and 1950s and was first used to describe 1928–1932 Ford Model A roadsters stripped of their fenders and running boards, leaving the frame rails visible. These early Fords became favored foundations thanks to their timeless looks and widespread availability.

This 1929 Ford Model A Highboy follows that tradition, featuring removed fenders along with custom paint and upholstery, chrome wheels, and wider rear tires. The open roadster is equipped with a Ford 302ci V8 crate engine paired to a three-speed automatic transmission, replacing the factory 200ci inline four and three-speed manual. Additional touches include AutoMeter instrumentation, custom headlamps, and a variety of performance enhancements.

This 1929 Ford Model A Highboy is now offered at no reserve in California by the seller on behalf of its current owner with floor mats and a clean Montana title in the name of the current owner's LLC.
