Description
OFFERED WITHOUT RESERVE
The 1921 Locomobile Sportif Touring was a distinguished variant of the venerable Model 48 series, produced by the Locomobile Company of America in Bridgeport, Connecticut. Crafted between 1911 and 1929, the Model 48 was revered as one of the most durable and refined luxury automobiles of its day. It featured a potent T‑head straight-six engine with a displacement of approximately 525 cubic inches, delivering 48.6 hp (95 bhp) — mechanical fundamentals that remained virtually unchanged for almost two decades.
The Model 48 Sportif, in Touring form, was built on a substantial 142-inch wheelbase. It embodied a sporty yet elegant profile. Richly appointed, it included a four-speed selective-sliding gearbox, and full‑floating rear axle. Locomobile prioritized quality over mass production — yielding four cars per day — and marketed the Sportif as a bespoke luxury model with a price around $7,650.
This Locomobile touring car, which was refurbished under previous ownership, wears dark blue paint with a folding black canvas top and dark blue-painted 35” wooden‑spoke wheels. Inside features include dark blue leather upholstery, pushbutton controls for the starter and instrumentation/exterior lights, headlight dimmer, gauge cluster, and clock.
The 1921 Sportif Touring is now represented at no reserve by a Broad Arrow Specialist with a clean Florida title in the current owner's name.
