The Backdraft RT4 Classic Edition is a contemporary homage to the legendary 1960s Shelby Cobra, combining timeless design with modern engineering. Produced by Backdraft Racing — established in 2001 by racers Tony Martin and Reg Dodd—the RT4 reflects decades of motorsport refinement. Manufactured in South Africa and distributed from Florida, it is offered as a rolling chassis, allowing buyers to select their preferred powertrain, typically a Ford V8.

With a stretched 92-inch wheelbase and wider track than the original Cobra, the RT4 offers improved stability and comfort. Its suspension system, featuring MacPherson-style front struts and a multilink rear setup derived from BMW’s 2014 architecture, ensures contemporary handling and ride quality. Classic styling cues include stainless steel trim, 18-inch chrome wheels, and a Le Mans-style fuel filler.

This particular RT4 is finished in Indigo Blue with white Le Mans stripes. The interior features upgraded RT4 black leather bucket seats, Sabelt cam-lock harnesses, and Autometer OEM-style gauges. Power comes from a carbureted Ford Racing 427 cubic-inch V8 producing 535 horsepower, paired with ceramic-coated headers and polished side pipes. A Tremec TKO 600 five-speed manual transmission completes the drivetrain.
