The 2013 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 is a standout in the Mustang lineage, celebrated for its blend of power and style. Unveiled at the 2012 Chicago Auto Show, this model marked the 20th anniversary of Ford’s Special Vehicle Team (SVT), which began with the 1993 SVT Mustang Cobra.

Under the hood, the GT500 boasts a 5.8-liter supercharged V8 engine, delivering an impressive 662 horsepower and 631 lb-ft of torque. This engine made it the most powerful production V8 at the time. The car’s performance was further enhanced by a six-speed manual transmission and an optional SVT Performance Package, which significantly improved its track capabilities.

The GT500’s design features a distinctive, aggressive look with a prominent grille, flared fenders, and a muscular rear. Inside, it offers Recaro seats and a modern instrument cluster with a TFT display. The Shelby’s suspension and Brembo brakes were upgraded to handle its increased power, making it 3.5 seconds faster on the Sebring International Raceway compared to its predecessor.

Serving as the pinnacle of the fifth-generation Mustang hierarchy, just 4,885 Shelby GT500s were built in 2013, of those just 808 convertibles, and only 120 ragtops with the Black leather Recaro seating.
