Description

The 2010 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 marked the final year of the first-generation high-performance SUV developed by Chrysler’s Street and Racing Technology (SRT) division. Introduced in 2006, the SRT8 was based on the WK Grand Cherokee platform and was the first four-wheel-drive vehicle from SRT.  

Under the hood, the 2010 model featured the same 6.1-liter HEMI V8 engine found in the SRT8 Charger and Challenger producing 420 horsepower. That power was delivered through a five-speed automatic transmission and a full-time all-wheel-drive system. Motor Trend reported in 2010, “The Grand SRT’s 6.1-liter Hemi engine propels it from 0–60 mph in less than five seconds... the quickest accelerating of all of the SRT8 vehicles, second only to the SRT10 Viper.” But they discovered it was more than just a straight-line muscle machine: “The Grand SRT8 uses a Dana 44 rear axle with an open differential... this combination along with the sport-tuned suspension allows the Grand SRT8 to hold a .92g on the skid pad, just .04g less than the Porsche 911 Turbo.” 

Visually, the SRT8 stood out with a lowered stance, aggressive bodywork, 20-inch wheels, and a center-exit dual exhaust. Inside, it featured bolstered sport seats and SRT branding throughout.
