In vintage Aston Martin nomenclature, the term Vantage was first used to identify a high performance variant of the DB2 from the 1950s and has since been shown on various models across the years. Presented at the Geneva Auto Show in 2005, the V8 Vantage debuted as an independent model in either Coupe or Roadster variant. Designed by Henrik Fisker, the Vantage used a shortened version of their aluminum vertical-horizon platform which made it the lightest and most nimble Aston Martin model of the time. Upgraded for 2009, this example features a larger displacement engine that was paired with an improved version of the automated “Sportshift” transmission.
