Drawing queues from the 1968 Mustang GT/CS – a limited-edition package that offered buyers aggressive Shelby-inspired styling and sold exclusively through California dealers – Ford announced that a new Mustang GT California Special would arrive in late summer of 2007. Like the 2007-2008 Mustang Shelby GT, the California Special began life as a Mustang GT Premium outfitted with a unique front facia featuring an integrated chin spoiler 1.5 inches lower than the GT, and a rear diffuser reminiscent of the 2007 Shelby GT500. Unique to the California Special were side scoops, mid-body racing stripes, bright rolled exhaust tips, and Ford’s premium 18-inch polished wheels. The exclusive treatments continued inside with a two-tone leather-trimmed interior and satin aluminum accents as part of the requisite Interior Upgrade Package. The California Special package added $1,895 to the price of a Mustang GT and was available as a Coupe or Convertible, with this example being one of only 2,509 Convertibles built and just 703 finished in Performance White.

Ownership History

The accompanying CARFAX Vehicle History Report shows that this 2008 Ford Mustang GT California Special Convertible was sold new in Florida where it remained until being relocated to Nevada by the consignor in 2018. The consignor reports that the car has always been stored indoors and well maintained during his stewardship.
