”The all-new 2007 S-Class is nothing short of a rolling revolution,” is how Mercedes-Benz characterized the all-new S 550. Introduced as part of the W221 generation, the Mercedes-Benz S 550 marked a significant redesign for the flagship S-Class. No more short- and long-wheelbase cars, simply the 124.6-inch wheelbase version, 3.1 inches longer than its predecessor. The 2007 S 550 came equipped with state-of-the-art features such as the Distronic Plus adaptive cruise control and Night View Assist, an infrared night-vision system.

The interior of the S 550 was equally impressive, offering leather and wood trim, spacious seating, and advanced infotainment options. The COMAND system, which controlled navigation, audio, and climate settings provided a user-friendly interface for drivers.

The performance in this executive luxury sedan was impressive with its new 5.5-liter V8 engine producing 382 horsepower and 391 lb-ft of torque. This power allowed it to accelerate from zero to 60 mph in just 6.1 seconds, “which somehow makes the S 550’s accelerative thrust—right on the city limits of hot roddom—all the more thrilling,” reported Car and Driver. These innovations underscored Mercedes-Benz’s legendary commitment to safety and driver enjoyment.
