The 2007 Ford Mustang GT-H marked the revival of a legendary collaboration between Ford, Shelby Automobiles, and Hertz Rent‑A‑Car. Echoing the original 1966 Shelby GT350H “Rent‑A‑Racer,” the GT-H was created to celebrate the 40th anniversary of that iconic program. Based on the S197 Mustang GT, the 2007 GT-H featured a 4.6‑liter SOHC V8 producing a factory-rated 319 horsepower, paired exclusively with a five‑speed automatic transmission.

Shelby Automobiles enhanced the Mustang with a Ford Racing cold‑air intake, performance exhaust, handling upgrades, and unique Shelby tuning. Visually, the GT-H stood out with black paint accented by gold Le Mans–style stripes, a retro-inspired hood scoop, 17‑inch wheels, and Shelby and Hertz badging throughout. The interior featured embroidered leather seats and a serialized Shelby plaque.

Production was limited to a reported 500 GT-H cars for 2007, including 107 coupes and 393 convertibles all built for Hertz. After their rental service, they were sold to the public.
