Description

Previously used on high-performance Aston Martin models since the 1950s, the Vantage nameplate made a return at the 2005 Geneva Motor Show as its own separate model. The lightest, most agile model in the range, the Vantage was effectively a successor to the 1989-2000 Virage and priced to compete with the Porsche 911. It shared its aluminum “VH” chassis with the more expensive DB9 – albeit 12.3 inches shorter and with 5.5 inches cut from the wheelbase – dressed in a stunning body design by Henrik Fisker. Under the hood sat a 4.3-liter, naturally aspirated V8 engine which could be paired with either a six-speed Sportshift automated manual, or a six-speed manual transmission specially made by Graziano in Italy. Together with its front-mid mounted engine and rear-mounted transmission, the Vantage boasted a near-perfect 49/51 weight distribution, and achieved zero to 60 mph in just 4.8 seconds on its way to a top speed of 175 mph. Aston Martin advertised the V8 Vantage Roadster as the embodiment of Power, Beauty, and Soul and it remains this way today featuring the unbeatable sensation of V8 powered open-air motoring.
