2006 Jaguar Super V8

Description

For many Jaguar enthusiasts the X350 generation of “XJ” saloons available from 2003 to 2009 is the final and arguably most attractive iteration of the classically elegant and iconic design in production for two generations before, now constructed with fully aluminum unibody chassis and bodywork. The top-of-the-line and most expensive offering (at nearly $90,000 base price) was the Super V8. In long wheelbase form, Super V8s were powered by the same 4.2-liter DOHC 32-valve aluminum V8 as the XJR sports sedan and the S-Type R, producing 400 horsepower and 399 pound-feet of torque. The $15,000 premium over the XJR included navigation, DVD, heated power-adjustable rear seats, an Alpine stereo system, high caliber walnut finishes, dual picnic tables, and more. With a sprint to 60 mph in merely 5.5 seconds and luxurious interior appointments to boot, the Super V8 is truly the ultimate British executive transport of its era, bridging the gap between limousine and outright sports sedan. This particular Super V8 was acquired by the owner in 2020 and driven sparingly ever since. The car was acquired in outstanding cosmetic and mechanical condition from a very large private car collection, in which it was housed in a climate-controlled private airplane hangar, regularly serviced by the collection’s in-house mechanic and reserved for the use of visiting guests. Immediately upon acquisition, the consignor replaced the air suspension with Arnott springs for added reliability and sportier driving dynamics, fully replaced the interior headliner, and conducted a full service and preventative maintenance with a Jaguar mechanic specializing in X350s, all of which totaled about $8,500 in sorting work. Aside from regularly scheduled fluid changes, the car has required no mechanical work since that time, owing to its excellent original condition, previous maintenance, and diligent current ownership. Not only does the car have both available options (Sirius satellite radio and chromed five-spoke wheels, currently on winter tires), it retains all its books, original window sticker, two sets of carpets (including luxurious lambswool set), Sirius remote, both keys, and also includes a set of very rare and desirable “Sepang” 20-inch wheels, produced by BBS specifically for the X350 chassis and the XJR in particular. Ownership History

The car was delivered to Ft. Lauderdale, Florida and its first owner in 2006, before trading hands to its second (2007) and third (2010) owners in the South Bend, Indiana area. By the time of its fourth owner’s acquisition, the prominent classic car collector, in 2011, the car had 45,000 miles and continued its preexisting regular service schedule at the Denooyer Jaguar dealership in Kalamazoo, Michigan over the ensuing nine years before its acquisition by the current owner in 2020.
