Description
OFFERED WITHOUT RESERVE
When Carroll Shelby went after Ferrari for the 1965 FIA World Championship, he had six Daytona Coupes built on 289 Cobra chassis. The plan succeeded, as Shelby won the championship. Today, young designer Peter Brock’s Daytona Coupes are also considered some of the most beautiful racers ever.
Those six original Shelby Daytona Coupes are now worth millions each, but the Factory Five Type 65 Coupe makes these historic cars accessible. Factory Five started making Daytona Coupe replicas in 1999, and this one was completed in 2006, owned by a single caretaker since new. Power comes from a 347 cu-in Ford stroker V-8 built on a Dart block, featuring an Eagle rotating assembly, forged pistons, and Edelbrock aluminum heads — engineered for durability and high performance. A Tremec TKO 600 five-speed manual transmission delivers power to the rear wheels.
The chassis is equipped with coil-over suspension and power disc brakes — 13-inch front and 11-inch rear — providing confident handling and stopping power. Finished in Dark Cherry Metallic, this Type 65 rides on Cobra-style aluminum wheels wrapped in Nitto NT555 tires; 255mm front and 315mm rear widths. Inside, cloth-covered Kirkey bucket seats with five-point harnesses reinforce its World Championship character.
