Description

OFFERED WITHOUT RESERVE

The 2005 Ural Patrol is a rugged and distinctive motorcycle with a sidecar and World War II roots. The Ural brand originated from the Soviet Union's need for a reliable military motorcycle, leading to the creation of the M-72, which was based on the BMW R71. Over the decades, Ural motorcycles evolved, maintaining their classic design while incorporating modern improvements.

The ’05 Patrol is powered by a 749cc air-cooled, four-stroke, boxer twin engine, producing around 40 horsepower, paired with a four-speed manual transmission that includes a reverse gear — a unique feature for motorcycles. Additionally, the bike has a selectable two-wheel drive system, which allows the rider to engage the sidecar wheel for better traction on rough terrain. The Patrol is also equipped with a leading link front suspension, dual rear shocks, a sidecar shock absorber and windscreen, spacious trunk, and a spare tire that is designed to fit the rear and sidecar.

Despite its utilitarian roots, the Ural Patrol has gained a cult following, both for its performance and its Russian history.

Ownership History

The Washington state owner of this 2005 Ural Patrol bought it new on 21 November 2005. “This machine was upgraded for reliability and was driven 3,500 miles from Seattle to Los Angeles, then L.A. to Chicago on as much of old Route 66 as possible without a lick of trouble. The route included highways, secondary roads, dirt, and sand. It has no crash or significant damage.”
