The 2005 Panoz Esperante GTLM is one of America’s most inspiring underdog stories on four wheels. Born from the ambitious vision of the Panoz family — automotive entrepreneurs who also founded the American Le Mans Series — the GTLM took advancements gained directly from Le Mans racing and applied them to a special edition road car, blurring the line between street machine and pure race competitor.
On track, the GTLM proved it was the real deal. On April 17, 2005, Bill Auberlen and Robin Liddell piloted the No. 50 GTLM to Panoz's first victory with the car, defeating the factory-backed Porsche 911 and ending a seven-race Porsche winning streak. That momentum carried beautifully into 2006, when the GTLM conquered both Sebring and Le Mans in GT2 class — a stunning achievement for a small Georgia manufacturer.
As was tradition at the factory, each car received a name and was personally signed by the craftsmen who built it—including company founder Dan Panoz—with all cars bearing female names. “Annie” was built in 2005 and is one of only 26 Esperantes produced that year. Of those, just 17 were the premier GTLM specification, and only four GTLM cars were convertibles—placing Annie firmly among the rarest examples.
Beneath the aluminum hood lies a supercharged Mustang SVT Cobra 4.6‑liter V8, reworked by JRD Motorsport to produce an impressive 535 horsepower at 6,000 RPM. Mated to a TREMEC T56 six‑speed manual transmission and 8.8-inch limited-slip differential, the drivetrain delivers an exhilarating and engaging driving experience. An aluminum alloy chassis paired with a carbon‑fiber superstructure keeps the car both lightweight and exceptionally rigid, while performance tires and bespoke 18‑inch alloy wheels provide confident grip and precise handling.
Annie’s provenance is as distinguished as her performance credentials. Originally designated as a promotional vehicle for the Panoz brand, she was shipped to France for display at the 24 Hours of Le Mans before returning stateside, where she was driven in California by actor and accomplished race car driver Patrick Dempsey. Featured in Road & Track magazine, Annie also completed an unforgettable road trip along the Gulf Coast. Finished in Black Magic Metallic with a refined Tan leather interior, Annie stands as a remarkable fusion of American craftsmanship, performance, and design.
This 2005 Panoz Esperante GTLM is now offered on consignment by the selling dealer with a clean CARFAX Vehicle History Report and a clean Tennessee title.
