Description
OFFERED WITHOUT RESERVE
The 2005 Ford Mustang marked a major turning point in the model’s history, as it launched the fifth generation with a bold retro-inspired redesign. Drawing heavily from the styling cues of the original 1960s Mustangs, the 2005 model featured a long hood, short rear deck, and aggressive front fascia that paid homage to its muscle car roots while embracing modern engineering.
Built on Ford’s new D2C platform, the 2005 Mustang offered improved handling and ride quality compared to its predecessor. It came in two main trims: the base V6 model, powered by a 4.0-liter SOHC engine producing 210 horsepower, and the GT, which featured a 4.6-liter SOHC V8. Both were available with either a five-speed manual or automatic transmission.
Inside, the Mustang combined classic design elements like dual-hooded gauges with contemporary materials and technology. Safety and comfort features were upgraded, and the car received praise for its value and performance.
The 2005 Mustang was a commercial and critical success, reigniting interest in American muscle cars and setting the tone for future models. It also played a key role in Ford’s “retro revival” strategy, influencing the design of other vehicles in the lineup.

Ownership History
The accompanying CARFAX Vehicle History Report places this six-owner 2005 Ford Mustang Convertible in Florida, Alabama, and Georgia. It was purchased new on 31 May 2005 in Casselberry, Florida, and has been in Kennesaw, Georgia, since August 2024. The seller says, “This sure is a pretty car; I just don’t have the room for it. I've known the car since 2010, when my daughter’s best friend got it, and I bought it from her on a whim in August 2024. It's been very well taken care of and was stored in a carport under a car cover over the winter. I've always liked this S197 body style; it reminds me of the ’60s and ’70s models that filled my high school parking lot — I miss those days for sure! It's special to me because we had a maroon ’65 Mustang when I was young, and I wished I still had that one; this was the nearest thing to it for me. (There is an aftermarket backup camera on this car, but the previous owner could no longer remember how to make it work, and I didn’t bother with it.)”
