Despite initial concerns that the Bentley Arnage might fall victim to the war between BMW and Volkswagen over the rights to the iconic British brand, the sporting sedan would go on to have an eleven-year production run with numerous sub-models added along the way. Replacing the Arnage Red Label in 2002, Bentley debuted the Series 2 Arnage in Arnage R and high-performance Arnage T form with a reworked version of the BMW-Cosworth 6.75-liter V8. A new Bosch ME7.1 engine management system more precisely monitored turbo boost while faster-spooling twin Garret T3 turbochargers replaced the single T4 unit. Other improvements under the skin included a 10 percent stiffer body shell and modifications to the spring and electro-hydraulic damper rates to ensure a supple and refined ride. Today, the Arnage is recognized as a true modern classic offering the refinement and luxury expected from a Bentley flagship.
