Description
The R230 fifth-generation Mercedes-Benz SL-class took the brand's iconic two-door sports car and updated it for the new millennium. Most notably, this was the first SL to feature the groundbreaking Vario Roof convertible hard top system, which provided more structural stability over a standard convertible, as well as an even more convenient way to enjoy the top-down driving experience that had been a hallmark of the SL-class since its introduction in the 1950's. The SL500 boasted upgraded performance over the V6-powered base SL350, thanks to the beefy 5.0L M113 V8 engine.
This 2004 Mercedes-Benz SL500 is a two-owner example, having been acquired by the seller this year from its original owner. The M113 V8 was factory rated at 302 horsepower, paired with a five-speed automatic transmission and the automaker's trick Active Body Control system.
