Description
OFFERED WITHOUT RESERVE
Huntsville, Alabama — or “Rocket City,” as we know it — is home to NASA rocket-propulsion research and development. Nothing quite encapsulates the launch and excitement of the region as this out-of-world collection of cars including movie cars and tributes, desirable classics, and a rocket truck itself. 3… 2… 1… These cars are ready for blastoff, and all will be launched to new homes and garages as all lots are presented with NO RESERVE.

The C5 Corvette, unveiled for the 1997 model year, represented a significant leap forward for America’s sports car. Chevrolet engineers employed a rear-mounted transaxle and hydroformed frame rails, which gave it great balance and made the C5’s structure both lighter, and four times as stiff, as the outgoing C4’s. Its low, sleek body had an exceptional .29 coefficient of drag, and new technical features included a drive-by-wire throttle body and variable-effort power steering.
But most notably, the C5 introduced the world to the LS engine. The Corvette team’s goal was to improve power, efficiency, smoothness, and durability, and the all-aluminum, pushrod LS1 was incredibly reliable, thanks to intelligent design elements like six-bolt main bearing caps. And LS1’s high-lift roller camshaft, high-flow heads, and efficient intake and exhaust pushed the auto-trans Corvette to a 5.0-second run to 60, a 13-second quarter mile, and a 175-mph top speed.
