Description
Introduced for the 2003 model year, the Chevrolet SSR (Super Sport Roadster) is a retro-styled pickup that was born out of an idea from then-GM Design VP Wayne Cherry, who is quoted as saying, “My vision was to create a modern interpretation of the early 1950s classic pickup” in an article about the SSR’s history, written by Hagerty’s own Gary Witzenberg.
The trucks were built on a modified GMT360 platform and featured a hydroformed frame, eight cross members, GM’s ZQ8 Sport Suspension Package, and 19-inch front and 20-inch rear aluminum wheels. 2003 models were offered with four-speed automatic transmissions and were powered by 5.3-liter Vortec engines. Roughly 24,000 units would be built at the Lansing Craft Center before being discontinued in 2006.
This ‘03 Chevy SSR was modified under previous ownership by Artisans Rods & Classics. Modifications include ECU tuning, a K&N cold air intake, a ported and polished throttle body, Kooks long tube headers and high-flow catalytic converters, and a MagnaFlow cat-back exhaust system.
Acquired by the seller in 2021, this '03 SSR pickup now shows under 12,000 miles.
This 2003 Chevrolet SSR is now offered with a clean CARFAX Vehicle History Report and a clean Indiana title in the seller’s name.
