Description
“Introducing a completely new roadster. The unmistakable new Thunderbird.” — Ford
Following the retro-style craze of the early 2000s, Ford reintroduced the Thunderbird after a five-year hiatus. The new 11th-generation (2002-2005) two-seater was inspired by the styling of its 1950s “Baby Bird” counterpart, featuring a mesh grille and the iconic porthole adorning its removable hardtop. Under the hood, a Jaguar-sourced 3.9-liter V8 engine sent power to the rear wheels, with a five-speed automatic transmission handling shifting duties. The comfortable ride was touted by Ford as “relaxed sportiness.”
Anticipation was high for those that ordered the first of the new Thunderbirds, and Ford provided them five “Manage the Wait” promotional items. Motor Trend magazine was on to something when it crowned the new two-seat Thunderbird “Car of the Year” in 2002, calling it “the perfect top-down getaway toy for two — and still a top performer.” This well-preserved two-owner first year ’Bird shows just 6,602 miles from new. As Ford stated, “It’s time to take flight.”

I have added 2,600 miles in my seven years of ownership. The car is free of scratches or stone chips and is pretty much as delivered when new.”
