Description

1993–97 fourth-generation Camaros wore a sharp, angular design, and Z28s were powered by the LT1 V8, a torquey engine that carried it confidently through to a major refresh in 1998. However, the 1998 redesign embraced a sleeker, more aerodynamic look with smoother lines and a more refined presence.

Lurking under the new Camaro’s hood was an all-aluminum killer: the LS1. This 5.7-liter V8 was dreamed up by the wizards at GM Powertrain, who were able to keep every pound-foot of twist from the LT1, but greatly improved the cylinder heads and camshaft for impressive top-end performance.

And 1998–02 Camaro buyers who selected the SS package got even more horsepower: 325, courtesy of a forced-air induction hood and high-flow exhaust system. Handling was improved with a high-performance suspension and 17-inch wheels wearing performance tires. And the SS’s looks were enhanced with a unique rear spoiler and SS badging. Paired with a six-speed manual and limited-slip differential, the Camaro SS delivered 5.1-second 0–60s, mid-13-second timeslips, and serious street cred.

This Camaro SS is one of only 11,191 built in 2002, features a six-speed manual, and has only traveled 12,831 miles since new!
