Description
The Honda S2000, introduced in 1999 to commemorate Honda’s 50th anniversary, was inspired by Honda's S roadsters of the 1960s and designed as a modern take on the classic roadster concept. At its heart was the F20C engine, a 2.0-liter naturally aspirated four-cylinder mill with dual overhead cams and Honda's variable valve timing system (VTEC). The engine produced 240 horsepower and 153 lb-ft of torque (and 0-60 mph in approximately 5.5 seconds), making it the most powerful naturally aspirated engine relative to displacement at the time.
Equipped with a six-speed manual transmission and a Torsen limited-slip differential as standard, the nimble roadster was acclaimed for its predictable handling and ideal 50/50 weight distribution. As Car and Driver put it, “Imagine if Formula One engineers built a sports car. Well, they did.” And although driving dynamics were top priority, Honda didn’t neglect the creature comforts, like AM/FM/CD stereo, power steering, and a power-operated top as standard.
This meticulously maintained 2001 Honda S2000 is nearly all original except for a short ram intake upgrade for a bit more performance and engine sound. The car’s current owner has driven it just over 300 miles per year since purchasing it in June 2013.
