Description
The 2001 Corvette Z06 marked the return of Chevrolet’s storied Z06 performance designation, last seen in the 1960s. Introduced as the high‑performance variant of the C5 generation, it was engineered for track‑focused driving and built exclusively on the Fixed Roof Coupe (FRC) platform, the stiffest and lightest C5 configuration available. Chevrolet equipped the Z06 with its new LS6 5.7‑liter V8, delivering 385 horsepower and giving the car exceptional acceleration and responsiveness. Beyond raw power, the Z06 benefited from weight‑saving measures, specialized suspension tuning, and upgraded brakes and tires.
Although all 2001 Z06 models left the factory as coupes, this one was transformed into a convertible in June 2001 by the Prefix Corporation of Rochester Hills, Michigan. Work included removing the fixed roof and adding a black soft top, exterior aero package, and leather-covered decorative roll hoops. The car also wears black paint and factory black leather upholstery with red embroidered Z06 emblems on its bucket seats.
Showing just 8,400 total miles, this Z06 convertible conversion is now offered by the selling dealer with a clean CARFAX history report, its original window sticker, owner’s manuals, and a clean Pennsylvania title.
