OFFERED WITHOUT RESERVE
“As enthusiasts, we often pine for the old days of pure steering and balanced chassis. This is your chance to go back in time and remember what those cars were like in their own day.” Car and Driver testers were very impressed with the 1999 BMW 528i, and for good reason. This rear-drive sport sedan exemplified BMW’s commitment to blending performance, luxury, and precision engineering.
Its design emphasized understated elegance, with clean lines and a well-appointed interior that included high-quality leather and wood trim, as well as advanced convenience and safety features. Underneath, the highly capable E39 chassis provided balanced handling thanks to a sophisticated front strut/rear multilink suspension and near 50/50 weight distribution.
Powered by a 2.8-liter inline-six engine, the 528i produced 190 horsepower and urgent acceleration. And the driving experience could be intense or refined, depending on whether the standard five-speed manual or the optional automatic transmission was selected.
These days, the E39 5 Series is regarded as one of the best analog sport sedans ever built. And this example not only presents well in blue, but it has been owned by the same owner since new.
