Description

The 1998 Corvette Pace Car Edition was produced to commemorate the C5 Corvette's selection as the Official Pace Car of the 82nd Indianapolis 500. Chevrolet produced 1,163 examples — one for each Chevrolet dealer in the United States at the time.

Each car left the factory in the same specification: Radar Blue over a black and yellow two-tone interior with yellow graphics package, pace car decals, and a special identification plate. The C5 platform itself was new for the 1997 model year, bringing a hydroformed frame, composite body panels, and a relocated fuel tank that gave the convertible a usable trunk.

This Pace Car Edition's Radar Blue, which is sometimes called Pace Car Purple, is accented with distinctive yellow pace car graphics and is equipped with a manually operated black convertible soft top. The car's V8 sends power rearward through a four-speed automatic transaxle.

Acquired by the seller in 2012 and now showing just over 50,000 miles, the car is said to have had a coolant flush, upper and lower radiator hose replacement, drive belt replacement, and a brake job covering pads, rotors, and fluid flush.
