The 1996 Chevrolet Corvette marked the final and most refined year of the fourth generation (C4) Corvette, produced from 1984 to 1996. For its send‑off year, Chevrolet offered both the proven LT1 V8 and the special high‑performance LT4 V8.

By 1996, the Corvette benefited from years of chassis refinement, improved suspension tuning, and better build quality compared to early C4 models. Buyers could choose between coupe or convertible body styles, with the coupe featuring standard removable tinted glass T‑top roof panels, a distinctive and practical C4 hallmark. The automatic transmission option was the 4L60‑E four‑speed, while manuals used a six‑speed gearbox.
