It takes an army of first responders to serve America’s largest city. Over 36,000 police officers, 10,000 firefighters, and 4,500 Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT) keep the five boroughs of New York City safe.
The New York City Fire Department (FDNY) Bureau of Emergency Medical Services (EMS) was established on March 17, 1996, following the merger of FDNY and the New York City Health and Hospitals Corporation’s emergency medical services division. The 1993 Ford E350 FDNY Ambulance was an essential part of the emergency medical services in the city. This model was part of the fourth generation of Ford Econoline vans, which debuted in 1992. The E350 variant was equipped with a 7.3-liter diesel V8 engine developed in collaboration with International Harvester (Navistar). The 1993 E350 Ambulance was designed and built by Ford to handle the rigorous demands of urban emergency response. It was equipped with advanced life support (ALS) and basic life support (BLS) capabilities, ensuring that paramedics could provide critical care en route to hospitals. The vehicle’s reliable design and performance made it a valuable asset to any community's fleet.
This 1993 Ford E350 FDNY Ambulance is a tribute to all the first responders who have served The Big Apple.
