Description
OFFERED WITHOUT RESERVE
Debuting near the end of the third-generation Firebird’s production run, the 1989 Pontiac Trans Am GTA (Gran Turismo Americano) was an exciting entry into Pontiac’s performance lineup. With its tuned-port–injected 5.7-liter V8, refined suspension, and upscale interior appointments, the GTA served as the most luxurious—and one of the most powerful—Firebirds of its era.
This 1989 Pontiac Trans Am GTA has been refinished in red under current ownership and is powered by a rebuilt 5.7‑liter V8 engine, with less than 7,000 miles reportedly driven since a rebuild was completed in August 2018. The five-digit replacement odometer currently displays 72,150 miles; the true mileage is unknown (TMU), with documentation indicating the car had 148,926 miles prior to the engine overhaul.
Servicing performed by Jim Butler Chevrolet in November 2025 and January 2026 addressed fuel-system components and starting issues, complementing extensive mechanical updates listed by the seller below. The car retains hallmark GTA features such as glass T-tops, aero bodywork, and performance-oriented factory equipment.
This 1989 Pontiac Trans Am GTA is now offered at no reserve with a CARFAX history report, various service documentation, owner’s and repair manuals, and a clean Missouri title in the seller’s name.

Servicing & Documentation
From the seller: “When I got it, the clearcoat was a disaster and it needed a repaint. So, I had it repainted by a retired General Motors body shop technician with 30 years of experience. It was repainted the same red color June 2025. The transaction for the work was handled in cash. I have a comprehensive file containing documentation for all repairs. All documentation will be provided with the vehicle. Additionally, everything included with the car is in the gallery.”
