The 1988 Toyota Xtracab Deluxe Pickup continued the legacy of durability and practicality that defined Toyota’s vehicles. The Xtracab extended cab offered six inches of extra storage space behind the seats, while the truck carried over key features from previous models. It was powered by the reliable and robust 22R-E fuel-injected engine. The front suspension had been updated in 1986 with independent torsion bars, replacing the solid front axle used in Toyota’s 4×4 trucks until then.

For 1988, the truck featured a minor redesign that updated both the interior and exterior. The new grille, one-piece bumper, and streamlined door mirrors gave the vehicle a more modern look. Inside, updates included full high door panels with faux leather stitching, color-matched interiors, and redesigned gauge clusters. The 1988 Xtracab Deluxe Pickup represented Toyota’s continued commitment to balancing rugged functionality with everyday comfort.
