The Chevrolet El Camino was produced from 1959 through 1987 and combined passenger-car styling with pickup-truck utility. Developed as Chevrolet’s answer to the Ford Ranchero, the El Camino evolved over five generations, sharing its chassis with the brand’s mid-size models such as the Chevelle, Malibu, and Monte Carlo.
The fifth-generation El Camino, introduced for 1978, was built on the G-body platform and incorporated design elements and mechanical components from Chevrolet’s passenger car lineup. By 1987, Chevrolet concluded production of the model, marking the end of a nearly 30-year production run. The El Camino’s configuration, which paired a rear-wheel-drive platform and V8 power with car-like interior features, maintained its popularity among buyers who valued both functionality and comfort.
This 1987 Chevrolet El Camino shows 29,898 miles and is powered by a 5.0L V8 engine paired with a four-speed automatic transmission with overdrive. The car is finished in its factory two-tone Black and Silver Metallic paint over Gray cloth/velour interior and features Soft-Ray glass, factory air conditioning, AM/FM radio with cassette, tilt steering wheel, cruise control, power windows, power door locks, eight-way power driver’s seat, driver-side remote mirror, power steering, power brakes, GM floor mats, and more.
