Description
OFFERED WITHOUT RESERVE
Introduced to the U.S. market for the 1985 model year, the MR2 was Toyota’s first production mid-engine vehicle, designed to deliver exotic-car handling at an attainable price. Its name, commonly interpreted as “Midship Runabout 2-seater,” reflected its unique layout, with the engine mounted behind the occupants and ahead of the rear axle.
For 1986, the MR2 continued to build on its nimble handling, thanks to its lightweight construction, fully independent suspension, and near-ideal weight distribution. Power came from a 1.6-liter DOHC 16-valve four-cylinder engine producing 112 horsepower, paired with either a five-speed manual or optional automatic transmission.
This example is finished in white paint over a black interior with aftermarket seat covers over stock seats. Features included the MR2's distinctive wedge-shaped styling, pop-up headlights, four-wheel disc brakes, reclining high-back bucket seats, and an AM/FM head unit with cassette player. The current owner installed 14" NA-generation Mazda MX-5 Miata wheels with Falken Sincera SN250 tires, a Momo Monte Carlo steering wheel, and dash speakers and also replaced the shift knob.
The car spent time registered in California and Arizona prior to District of Columbia. It was acquired by the seller in 2021.
This 1986 Toyota MR2 is now offered with a windshield sunscreen, miscellaneous parts, a clean CARFAX Vehicle History Report, and a clean District of Columbia title in the owner’s name.

Additional Information
The seller states, "This is a naturally aspirated, rear engine, 5-speed stick shift, 1986 Toyota MR2 in white. This car has lived its entire life in California and then Arizona, so it is completely rust free. Anything that was replaced on the car is OEM+ or neutral in design. It has brand new Falken Sincera SN250 tires on NA Miata "daisies" (14x5.5, +45 offset) — both are OEM spec. I have some of the service and purchase records from when the car was new."
"The steering wheel is a Momo Monte Carlo (the car came without the stock steering wheel to begin with, so I just upgraded it). Coolant overflow tank is from a Toyota AE86 Levin; the stock tank got a pinhole, and there were no good condition MR2 tanks available. Stock air intake box was removed by the previous owner; there is just a short open-air filter now so that it does not get wet through the engine bay vent. Shift knob was replaced. Dash speakers were replaced with 4" Kicker 46CSC44 CS Series."
