“Here is a car that says quality at every turn.” Cadillac was proud of its 1982 Sedan DeVille. The crushing pressures of fuel economy, emissions, and safety that every manufacturer felt in the early 1980s were particularly difficult for builders of large luxury cars. But Cadillac rose above: The 1977–84 C-body DeVilles, in two-door Coupe and four-door Sedan versions, sat on a platform with a 121.4-inch wheelbase, which offered a sturdy foundation for this luxury automobile. The standard engine was the all-new HT4100 V8, which used balanced internal components, Digital Fuel Injection, and an overdrive automatic to provide smooth, efficient power.
Inside the Sedan DeVille, a Velour-like Heather knit cloth welcomed occupants to the expansive cabin. Luxury accoutrements were many: passengers enjoyed the standard Electronic Climate Control and electronically tuned stereo, while the driver was ensconced in a standard power seat, with power accessories, a tilt and telescoping steering wheel, and a digital Fuel Data Panel within arm’s reach. Cadillac’s handsome sedan had everything a discerning driver could wish for — malaise era be damned.
This 1982 Sedan DeVille is finished in beautiful Dark Redwood inside and out, has been fastidiously maintained, and is said to have traveled only 52,245 miles from new.
