Description
OFFERED WITHOUT RESERVE
The 1981 Replicar Model A Phaeton was the final iteration of a unique line of neo-classic automobiles produced between 1966 and 1981 by the Glassic Company in West Palm Beach, Florida. Designed to resemble the 1931 Ford Model A Phaeton, these vehicles were not officially sanctioned by Ford but offered a nostalgic aesthetic combined with modern drivability.
Early Glassics were built on International Scout chassis and powered by four-cylinder engines. However, in 1972, the company transitioned to using Ford 302-cubic-inch V8 engines and fabricated frames, significantly improving performance. In 1975, the company rebranded as Replicars, Inc., and continued production under that name until it ceased operations in 1981.
Approximately 1,600 units were produced in total, with the majority being Phaeton body styles. The 1981 models featured modern amenities, which included automatic transmissions, power steering, and front disc brakes.
The fiberglass body of this 1981 Replicar Ford Model A Phaeton is refinished in brown with black fenders and was optioned with a rear trunk and fender-mounted spare tires. The Ford-sourced 302-cubic-inch V8 sends power to the rear wheels through an automatic transmission. Two rows of bench seating are upholstered in tan vinyl and complemented by a color-coordinated soft top.
