Description

Introduced in 1978, the Porsche 911 SC — or "Super Carrera" — was designed to replace both the 911 S and the Carrera 3.0. The 911 SC featured a robust 3.0-liter flat-six engine, producing 180 horsepower. With its Bosch K-Jetronic fuel injection system, the flat-six was both efficient and durable, and it delivered spirited acceleration with a top speed nearing 140 mph.

Coupled with a precise five-speed manual transmission (or optional three-speed Sportomatic), the 911 SC offered exhilarating handling thanks to its rear-engine, rear-wheel-drive layout and sophisticated suspension. The car's design retained the classic G-Series look with flared fenders, impact bumpers, optional whale-tail rear spoiler, and removable Targa top. The interior saw refinements in materials and ergonomics, further enhancing the driving experience.

The Porsche 911 SC 3.0, celebrated for its balance between everyday usability and high-performance driving, was initially intended to be the last of the 911 line before Porsche shifted focus to the front-engine 928, but the success of the SC convinced the Stuttgart automaker to continue developing the 911 platform.
