Description
The third generation of General Motors' C/K series trucks, manufactured from 1973 to 1991, represented a significant evolution known as the “Rounded Line” trucks. These vehicles succeeded the earlier “Action Line” models under the Chevrolet and GMC brands, the Rounded Line C/K trucks also served as the foundation for GM's full-size SUVs.
Responding to external factors such as the 1979 energy crisis, General Motors undertook a mid-cycle redesign for the 1981 model year. This update aimed to improve aerodynamics and fuel efficiency by reshaping the body forward of the windshield, lowering the hood line, and enhancing the functionality of windshield wipers. The 1981 C/K trucks also received updated grilles, redesigned front bumpers, and adopted square headlights across various trim levels, reflecting contemporary design trends. Interior enhancements focused on improving comfort and functionality, including redesigned seats, door panels, and dashboard layouts. The truck was available with a range of engines, including inline-sixes and small-block V8s, paired with manual or automatic transmissions.
This 1981 Chevrolet C10 Short Box — referring to the pickup's sportier, short-bed configuration — wears Frost White paint and is powered by a 4.1-liter V8.
