As compact imported cars gained popularity in the late 1960s, American automakers moved quickly to develop their own economical small-car offerings for the new decade. Ford introduced the Pinto in 1970, an all-new platform weighing just over 2,000 pounds. Initially offered as a two-door Sedan, the Pinto lineup soon expanded to include the 3-door Runabout hatchback and the Pinto Wagon.

By the 1980 model year, the Pinto counted new exterior moldings, revised parking lamps, bumper guards, and wheel covers among its many standard features. And a 2.3L four-cylinder mated with a 4-speed manual provided the power.

This final-year Pinto is dressed in Medium Red Glow with red cloth/vinyl upholstery, wears 13” wheels, and is powered by the 2.3L four cylinder backed by a 4-speed manual transmission. It now shows approximately 7,100 miles.
