Description
The second-generation Firebird was introduced for 1970 and remained in production through 1981, representing one of the longer-running and most visually consistent platform runs in American performance car history. The Trans Am sat at the top of the Firebird hierarchy throughout, distinguished by its shaker hood scoop, specific suspension tuning, and the bold graphics package that made it one of the most recognizable American cars of the decade. The 400ci V8 remained the top engine option through the mid-1970s, and pairing it with a 4-speed manual transmission represented the most driver-focused configuration in a lineup that was otherwise trending toward automatics and reduced displacement.
This 1976 Trans Am is finished in Firethorn Red over white vinyl bucket seats and is powered by the 400ci V8 backed by a 4-speed manual transmission and Hurst shifter. The Screaming Chicken hood decal and Trans Am fender decals are fitted alongside 17-inch honeycomb-style wheels.
During the seller's ownership, the carburetor, exhaust, various suspension components are said to have been replaced along with the installation of a radiator with electric fans, a performance camshaft, and a limited-slip differential featuring a Moser Engineering cover.
This 1976 Pontiac Trans Am is offered with a clean New York title in the seller's name.
