Description
OFFERED WITHOUT RESERVE
In 1962, Carroll Shelby — a chicken farmer turned Army Air Corps pilot, Le Mans winner, car builder, and entrepreneur — created an automotive legend. By merging the lightweight aluminum body of the British AC Ace with Ford’s powerful 260-cubic-inch V8, Shelby birthed the iconic Shelby Cobra at Shelby-American Inc. in Los Angeles. With limited original production, the Cobra’s legacy inspired generations of enthusiasts and led to the rise of high-performance replicas.
This particular Cobra replica stands out with a custom steel body finished in Factory Five Metallic Grey, accented by Metallic Iridium stripes. It’s built on a 1976 Toyota HiLux rear-wheel-drive chassis, blending classic style with reliable underpinnings. Inside, the cabin features black pleated vinyl and bespoke upholstery by New Castle Upholstery, including vintage-style bucket seats from B+B in the UK. Power comes from a professionally rebuilt Ford 302 V8, enlarged to 350 cubic inches by JB’s Machine in Baltimore. Performance upgrades include a Lunati camshaft, competition valve job, Edelbrock four-barrel carburetor, and aluminum intake. Braking is managed by a dual-circuit power-assisted system with front discs and rear drums. Riding on 18-inch 2 Crave wheels with new Michelin 235/45R18 tires, this replica captures the spirit of one of America’s most revered performance cars.
