OFFERED WITHOUT RESERVE
From conveying U.S. Presidents and dignitaries to shuttling newlyweds and prom queens, the stretch limousine has been an important part of American culture. Creating a limousine or hearse is a feat of both engineering and craftmanship, and Armbruster/Stageway was the pioneer in crafting these “professional” cars. Founded in 1887, Armbruster/Stageway was started by three Fort Smith, Arkansas, men building and restoring horsedrawn wagons and “holdup proof” stagecoaches. Around 1923, the company started stretching automobiles into small buses. Then came limousines, airport coaches, and hearses built on various full-sized automobiles, including Buicks.
The 1976 Buick LeSabre was part of the sixth generation of the LeSabre model, which had been a staple in Buick's lineup since its introduction in 1959. In 1976, the LeSabre was offered in several body styles and featured a luxurious interior. Buick also offered a powerful 455 cubic-inch V8 option.
“The Six Door LaSabre Limousine, engineered by Buick and Armbruster/Stageway: The newest and most exciting entry in the Armbruster/Stageway family of fine Limousines,” the company announced, changing the name slightly from Buick’s “LeSabre” trademark. “Its timeless design makes the LaSabre a limousine of classic beauty, a limousine to be owned and operated with confidence for years to come.”
