The 1976 Pierce Hendrickson Police Mobile Command Center was designed to support emergency response teams with state-of-the-art technology and versatility. The vehicle was the result of a collaboration between Pierce Manufacturing, which began building fire and rescue vehicles in 1939, and Hendrickson, a leader in suspension systems since 1926.
This mobile unit featured advanced communication systems, multiple workstations, and specialized equipment racks, allowing law enforcement to coordinate complex operations effectively, even in remote locations. The mobile command center was utilized by various police departments, including the City of Los Angeles Police Department (which this one now replicates), and it played a crucial role in SWAT operations, hostage negotiations, and disaster response scenarios.
The '76 Pierce Hendrickson Mobile Command Center (model 1871-S) is equipped with a powerful 9.0-liter V6 Detroit Diesel engine, part of the Detroit Diesel 92 Series, which was known for its reliability and high performance, making it ideal for the demanding needs of a mobile command unit.
This Command Center was originally built for the Cuyahoga Falls (Ohio) Fire Department and still wears CFFD logos on its upholstery, but a previous owner changed it to LAPD livery.
