Description
OFFERED WITHOUT RESERVE
Huntsville, Alabama — or “Rocket City,” as we know it — is home to NASA rocket-propulsion research and development. Nothing quite encapsulates the launch and excitement of the region as this out-of-world collection of cars including movie cars and tributes, desirable classics, and a rocket truck itself. 3… 2… 1… These cars are ready for blastoff, and all will be launched to new homes and garages as all lots are presented with NO RESERVE.
***
Introduced as part of Lincoln's Mark series, the Continental Mark IV was designed during a period when Lincoln aimed to compete with Cadillac's Eldorado. The luxury hardtop coupe featured a distinctive design with a long hood, short deck, and prominent grille, and one of its most recognizable features was the "Continental spare tire" hump on the trunk lid, a nod to the classic Continental models of the past.
Under the hood, the 1973 Mark IV was powered by a robust 460 cubic-inch V8 engine with a four-barrel carburetor, producing 220 horsepower and 365 lb-ft of torque. It was mated to a three-speed automatic transmission. The interior of the Mark IV featured plush leather seats, woodgrain trim, and a host of luxury amenities such as power windows and seats, and an advanced (for its time) climate control system.
While the automotive industry faced challenges in the early 1970s due to the oil crisis, the 1973 Mark IV remained a symbol of American luxury. Its combination of style, comfort, and performance made it a standout model when new, and it is cherished by classic car enthusiasts.
