Description
OFFERED WITHOUT RESERVE
The 1972 Chevrolet Nova stood as a shining example of Chevrolet’s ability to blend style, practicality, and performance in a compact package. The third-generation Nova carried forward the clean, muscular lines introduced in 1968, but under the hood there were major changes that reflected the era’s tightening emissions regulations, and horsepower ratings dropped significantly from the previous year due to new net measurement standards and the shift to unleaded fuel.
While the top engine offered in ’72 was the 350-cubic-inch V8 in the Nova SS, some Nova owners chose to perform their own upgrades. This 1972 Nova, for example, rolled out of Chevy’s Willow Run, Michigan, assembly plant with a 307 cu-in V8, but the car later received a more powerful engine and a heavy-duty transmission. Under the hood of this ’72 Nova is a 454ci big-block V8 mated to a Turbo Hydra-Matic automatic gearbox. The beneficiary of a recent restoration, the car wears Pewter Metallic paint over black vinyl upholstery and new Hankook Optimo H725 tires.
