Description

The C/K-series Chevrolet truck reached its stride in the early 1970s as the most refined and capable half-ton available in the American market, and over time the K10 four-wheel-drive variant has become one of the most sought-after platforms for high-quality builds in the collector truck segment.

This example began as a K10 but has been built on a K20 heavy-duty frame said to have been sourced from a 1972 model. Acquired by the seller in 2024 and subsequently refinished in its current two-tone orange and white, the truck features the long-box Fleetside bed with stained White Oak flooring. The cab is insulated with Dynamat throughout and features orange and black houndstooth upholstery, a custom black dash pad with orange contrast stitching, an Intellitronix digital instrument cluster with factory-look gauges, and a retro-style stereo. The electrical system has been updated with a centralized panel using resettable circuit breakers.

The drivetrain consists of a 350ci V8 paired with a TH400 automatic transmission, both of which are said to have been overhauled, a Dana 44 front axle, and a Dana 60 rear axle with a disc brake conversion. The truck rides on 8-lug 16" alloy wheels and has been fitted with front tow hooks and Holley RetroBright LED headlights.

A dyno test performed at MAS Performance in February 2025 showed peaks of approximately 292 hp and 379 lb-ft of torque at the rear wheels, and the truck now shows approximately 700 miles since completion.

This 1972 Chevrolet K10 Cheyenne Super is offered with refurbishment records and photos, dyno test results, and a clean Wisconsin title in the seller's name.

Ownership History

From the seller: "I have owned trucks of this vintage for 50 years. In 2014, I found a great air cab and a great box with wood floor at the Iola, WI swap meet. The cab and box were from South Dakota. I had been looking for a K10 frame for a long time and then life got in the way so got put on the back burner, then in March of 2024 I found this 1972 K20 that had a camper on it, and the last time it was registered was 1999. I went to look at it and the truck I don’t think ever seen salt because of the camper, long story short I bought it and brought the restoration back to the front burner. The restoration took around 28 months and got a bit out of control. Everything has been rebuilt that could!"
